Tides not good that day for those coming south to Brightlingsea; 0800 and 2000 highs - will need to leave at c. 2pm ish to carry some flood down the wallet and arrive on a rising tide - don't make it an early dinner!!

Every year the Crouch travellers have to get up at Oh Christ Hundred Hours to make this pilgrimage.
I seem to remember arriving at 7am on several occasions for Pirate Weekend having completed the Swin Spitweay boogie overnight.

Marmalade, Phoenix and Croix will make a spectacular squadron of 74 gun ships of the line, almost like a Spithead Review, except off Walton Pier.


Dinner will be fairly late, after 8pm just about.
 
And it's usually the Crouch (and Blackwater)-dwellers that have to brave the Wallet wind-against-tide to get to, or back from, (usually both) most of the East coast dos.
No sympathy - the tides are perfect for us!

We've been warned the French are planning to invade that weekend (the French wing of our family, that is!), so we've been foiled yet again and won't be able to make it. Thus -
