Hi all

The Olympic torch will be passing through Teddington Lock on the morning of Friday 27th July. There will be no mooring on the head layby from the afternoon of Thursday 26th July.

Once the torch has passed , business as usual from lunchtime.

H :)

Oh , i see !!

It departs HC at 0700 , so we are expecting it at the lock at 0800 (ish) , if you are coming to the lock to watch , be aware that the lock island is closed to the public , watching is from the towpath alongside the barge lock or the layby.

The bridge over the lock cut will be closed at 0745 (ish) and re-opened when the torch has passed.

So if you want to see it you need to be over Ham side at 0730? I am assuming hey have told the good folk of Ham this...

Not sure who's been told what. But yes , i would be alongside the lock at 0730 if you want a good view.

Police/Home Office have been sonar scanning the locks today to check for nasty little surprises.

Police RIBS will have divers onboard to deter any 'boat race swimmer' antics too.

Should be exciting.

I went to the lock today ( i am on annual leave ) , and i must say that it is looking stunning , and i do mean stunning ! The gardens are looking wonderful , everything is mown and painted too.

Don't forget to vote for best kept lock when you all see it ! ;)

I understand the Jubilee Pageant was strict and two gate crashing vessels were turfed off, but does anyone know if random motor boats will be allowed to follow this procession - assuming with a transit permit and were able to get a confirmed mooring to head for?

I'll be voting for the lock with clean walls - Oh, that will save me a job, then.

PO

Change of circumstances means we have to get back from Chatham today. Probably won't be at Teddington until 7pm and nowhere to moor. Has the makings of a very long day as we'll just have to keep going.

Edited to add - Any suggestions to save SWMBO and me having to work locks? Stevens Ait looked very dicey on the way down (wooden posts sticking up just off the moorings ). Don't fancy Kingston unless it's somewhere quiet.

Kingston on the right will be ok? Hampton Court? or you could call Teddington Harbour below the lock?

Only moorings I can find listed for Kingston are on the John Lewis side. Hampton Court moorings closed due to torch departure tomorrow. Will check with Teddington Harbour. Thanks.
