I so wish I could figure out how to post photos here, but everytime I try they get rejected for being too big. Limehouse marina is almost entirely covered in weed, it looks like lawn or a billiard table. Eeerie. Making me think of the triffids. Bit frightened of going to sleep, it's growing so fast thats actually rising above the water and looks like shallow blooms of cauliflower. Wonder how long it will take to go away?

bloody Canada geese. They taste awful, and leave sh*t everywhere. That sh*t leads to eutrophication of the water as well (that's one of the reasons for the bloom on the water).

When I was living on a marina near Staines, the geese multiplied over time, and in the end the staff had to eliminate (covertly) the eggs at nesting time, to prevent the geese from breeding and covering the pontoons and access ramps with slimy and disease ridden faeces. It had become a H&S issue for staff and boaters.

re photos, still doesn't work for me. Haven't been able to post pics for ages. Given up. Not that important!

Re the weed. A man frm the Canal and River Trust was in the marina this morning. He said it's chickweed and the Lea and Grand Union are chocked with it. He over heated 3 times coming 5 miles down the Lea. Cuts to budgets means their usual methods for controlling weed are non-existent at the moment and Limehouse is likely to be like this for the next three weeks until they can get a machine in to clear it. Bad! Interestingly, he said they have used barley in the past as it is toxic to chickweed.

adjust as req

h box in photobucket ( 2nd tab down ) & copy then past hereinstead of this txt with no gaps between

Ta,

When you paste, does it initially appear as text (as mine does) or as a photo and then change into a photo when you post? It is still text when I check on 'preview'.

Sorry to appear thick but I can't get anything to transfer from photobucket to anywhere - not just the forum, all I get is the text code of the photo.

Err, ahem Mr. Mod, may I suggest that there should be a 'How To Post Images' or a sticky of some sort for this...

You're welcome.

I'm with Chinita - no matter what I do, or how I do it, I still can't get my pics to appear. They are either too big (even when reduced and compressed) or I just can't even paste a url into it - just doesn't work for me.

Never had a need to try it but is this helpful?

I think from memory that someone on Scuttlebut posted it some time ago in response to another poster having similar problems.

That was by Dogwatch, who no longer posts on the forum, most of it is now irrelevant as Photobucket if set correctly now automatically sizes pictures.

Photobucket is definitely the way to post pics, no meaningful limit on number of pics held.

The in house scheme has a limit on no. of pics so prolific pic posters have to periodically delete, which renders their old posts pictureless.

Also IMO, posts with the pics properly sized read better than those with thumbnails.
