the pump is leaking water - clean thankfully as this is the beginning of the season - and you can hear it suck air. Didn't have a chance to really investigate before I had to come ashore. any suggestions as to what i will need to do? as far as I could tell in the time available the inlet and outlet pipes seem to be secure.

tighten the fixing between the 2 parts of the body
remove the inspection cover & tighten the diaphram nut

If the pipes are good it can only be the seal on the removable lid or the screws that tighten the body and diaphragm together.

After 15 odd years of living aboard with lavac, I always keep a new or refurbished one ready to go. 5 mins to swap then defective one can be repaired at leisure.

Hope this helps.

Can you establish exactly where the leak is originating?

From memory there are also 4 screws which connect the inlet valve assembly to the main body of the pump. I had a real problem securing these once as they seem to just bite and no more. If they are not secure then the pump will just suck in air instead of liquid. More likely though are the suggestions from the previous poster.

I am assuming that your pump is a Henderson Mk V. Don't know why I'm assuming that but if it ain't then forget the above.

Good luck

Chas

I'm also assuming the pump is a Mk V as that's what it look like when I view images on the website. It may be an older version so I'm hoping the spares kit I've ordered is suitable. Can't imagine they changed too much over time. Any suggestions as to how I can tell the difference - if there is one?

There are four screws which hold the joker valve in place. In my experience these often leak when you fit the service kit. Solution is to use lots of sealant internally and then a blob on each of the screws externally
