Dear team
I purchased a new Lavac Zenith toilet lid from Spares Marine last September, the old lid being 30 years old and had cracked under where the seal fitted so was not sealing properly.
We fitted the new lid on returning to the boat in Grenada in November and everything was fine for a few weeks then the new lid started cracking from the centre where the casting sprue was. The new lid has always flexed under vacuum, whereas the old lid was much more solid.
As a result the new lid now doesn't seal properly. Spares Marine are not interested and Lavac (Sea-sure) claim that the lid has been knelt on while under vacuum (not so).
The new lid is definitely of inferior quality to the old one and interestingly Spares marine charge £100 while Sea-sure charge £180 for the same unit. Could one be a non-genuine spare?
Has anyone else had similar experiences?
Not sure how to upload photo's but if anyone can assist I have photo's to share.
