My Lavac heads has been great over the years, able to swallow anything the crew threw at it. This year, however, it pumps out OK but refuses to take in any water to refill the bowl afterwards. Could it be that the inlet grill has been anti-fouled over? If not, could there be another solution? Ta.

I think the problem is the toilet not sealing when you put the lid down. The pump will pump out because it sucks out the contents of the bowel. However the water is sucked in because the bowel is sealed and if the seals are not too good water does not come in. Try putting some pressure on the toilet seat when you pump and it should work. Otherwise push a narrow tube through the inlet tube to clear any blockage. Last thought..is the seacock broken which allows water in to flush the toilet. I had a seacock with a handle which turned ok but when I took it off and examined it the valve did not turn when the handle mooved.
Hope this helps. Regards. Paul

Paul, what can I say? You are a genius. I went to the boat and flushed with some pressure on the lid and I think it has done the trick! Many thanks. Now all I need to find are some new seals for the lid and seat I guess.... Thanks again and have a good Easter weekend.

I remember getting a new seal from the Lavac people. Give them the model no. & approximate age. I also had the original metal type with the plastic coating. The plastic coating started to bubble all over - sort of severe case of osmosis!!!. The company admitted there was a problem with those toilets & gave (sold) & me a new bowl & everything ok since . That was about 9 years ago.
