Well after faffin about all year trying to pick my new(ish) boat my chosen marine transport is now in the water Yippie :D
My harbour has changed from Minehead to Porlock, such a pretty and friendly little place I am well chuffed.

Am reliably informed the OP now has a must up in about the right place. Next thing, he'll be hanging sails various from it, and 'going equipped' to terrorise shipping along the Briz'l Channel and the East Coast of Wales.

I do like that little boat, MadH.

When you have recovered from the birthday party, drop me a line, and I'll come over and help you work your way down the Todo List.

Your right about Porlock. A shooting colleague has a smart little fishing boat over there, and reckons it's about as old-fashioned a place as you can find.

Many happy sailing miles to both of you !

Absolutely brilliant to be based out of Porlock. We only draw 1m (wing) and we can't even be sure of getting in, let alone staying! Best of luck.

Btw- there was some talk about revamping the lock gates to get the inner basin floating- is this true, or did I just imagine it??

Cheers

Thank you SB, I went out today ( last minute thing) to give her a shake down and only a few little bits need doing :-sheets and halyards need a good tidy up/organising , repositioning of cleats for single handing, s/s strop to lift genoa further up the foil,GOOD CLEAN :o , reefing lines sorting (not quite sure on this one -single line? or standard slab kit bearing in mind this sail has 3 reefing points )
Engine was sweet as a nut.
She sailed quite well considering I was clueless about this boat.
I won't be going out for a short while as my hospital appointment is on Monday and will need a few days to settle down afterwards, will contact when sorted.

I must admit to being a little apprehensive about mooring there but it is so nice and friendly with a comfortable feel about it, and not a red duster anywhere.
Did my first exit/entry there this morning with a strange new to me boat with out embarrassing myself .
I reckon it would be no problem with a wing keeler + 1 metre down under to get in and stay a while.
The lock gates have been fixed but not so much for a floating inner harbour but to wash the access channel through every now and then.
BTW what boat do you have ??

I see you drew quite a crowd of onlookers; I remember seeing a barge lock through at Guildford, loads of gongoozlers but no-one lifted a hand as the hassled solo owner ran around like a one-armed paper hanger ( we only got there as it all ended ) - as he motored out he turned to the crowd and yelled " For an encore I'll sing ' Mammy ' ! "

Love the purple upholstery...:)
