Hi all, I've finally got around to paying in some of the monies raised from the auction, collection tins, BBQ, cake sales and raffle and we're now sitting pretty at £9,550 + £80 Zippy paid direct to BHF makes that £9,630 (I'll need to find out how to recognise that on Justgiving).

https://www.justgiving.com/teams/BikeForCharity

I still have to pay in about £165 of coinage and my lad (Jamie) has text me to say his company raised a further £160 last Friday so that should come in soon. I have a cheque here too made out to the BHF for a further £50 so I make that a total so far of

£10,005

A massive thank you to everyone who has supported us and are continuing to do so, you should be rightly very proud of helping us double the target we set ourselves back in November 2014

Thanks again Gary

note: there's a fund raising event going on this weekend arranged by one of the fellas who attended the auction without being asked so the £10k target that we thought we'd have no hope of hitting looks like it'll get smashed too, amazing :encouragement:

Well done, a great effort in so many different ways. And to think that, with just a few weeks to go, you were struggling to even hit your original target!

Great work Gary,

I can honestly say I enjoyed every second of the ride, even that stretch to the Hinton which was indeed a pig!!!!

Paul has mentioned in on the other section but what shall we try for next year? ( I'm thinking some way to unite the UK and SoF forum members?)

I'm away next weekend for my birthday but be good to catch up for a beer on the water. All the best ideas come after a couple of pints of peroni!

If the planning session includes Peroni, count me in! The Ferry restaurant (Swanwick) has Peroni on draft and would offer a great venue to inspire the next challenge.

I did think that cycling from the tidal Thames to the tidal Avon (East Coast to West coast) was a possible but Howards idea of cycling from John O'Groats to Antibes sounds worthy of discussion!

Well done guys. Sterling effort :)

I could probably manage to cycle from Swanwick Marina to the Ferry restaurant if it raised £10k although from memory there are a couple of uphill sections where I might have to walk it.

If you want to involve the SOF lot wouldn't it make more sense to both set off and meet in the middle, somewhere like Calais ?

Henry :)

Just need to add that The Hinton Arms (our final pub stop) sent me a lovely e mail last week saying that they shound not have asked us to pay for drinks and offering to make a donation as a way of apology.

They have just donated another £40 through Just giving.

The Hinton Arms is a very nice pub and well worth a visit if your passing the A272.

that's very kind of them Howard, please pass on our gratitude. That's takes us to £54 of the £10k target as recorded by Just Giving but I've been informed that the £160 raised by my lad will need to be donated directly to BHF due to his company policy and the £50 cheque I have is also made out BHF so I think I'll need to post that to them so that won't be recognised on Just Giving either. That leaves the remaining coinage I have here from the tins which looks around £20 in total so whilst we're already over the £10k mark in reality, Just Giving doesn't reflect it. Going to need to find a way to raise the final few quid via Just Giving to get us over the line.

Tulip out drive the 3rd. It most certainly does look good, the number 10 with three neat little zero's to the right of them. thank you very much for getting us to the £10k milestone :)
