Latest on stolen yacht \"Raven\" (positive news!)
Raven and me have spent time today working on Raven, the yacht that was stolen and sunk last week (confusing isn't it?).
The first thing to mention is that the owner and his partner are very upbeat about getting her restored to "former glory" - this is a feat in itself given that Raven was sunk off Ballast Island - she was sunk up to the windscreens (the boat is an Oceanic Cat motor sailor, only 73 of these were made) and the interior is a horrid mess.
Raven and I received some very kind offers from forumites, all of which now won't be required, as the owner has secured funding from a relative for repairs and work is already underway with both engines out and in the workshop for re-build.
Raven will require extensive refitting and re-wiring work along with some forward structural work as the little gits crashed her into a stone and wood piling before marooning themselves on the island.
There is lots more to unfold to this story which is currently speculation. But we for now, we wish the owner and his pride and joy (he bought it for his retirement) all the best and you can be sure that Raven and I will help where at all possible.
Thank you all.
PS - latest on insurance. There is a sad coincidence here that does in some way exonerate the owner re insurance. Raven did, until recently, have fully comp, but the insurance co declined to renew this until the owner had a full survey done as Raven is now 30 years old. The owner couldn't at the time stump up the £600 for the survey, but went with the honourable thing of at least covering his liabilities to others...ain't that just the b@stard way of things. Fate eh!
