Hello blenkinsop and welcome back ! Let me assure you that my post was not introducing an "anti rowing" strand as you put it. I did not "introduce it" but thank you for confirming the veracity of my comment.Spring must be definitely on its way when an anti rowing strand is introduced into a thread to which it is completely irrelevant.
It appears that your very first post on the YBW forums was on this very Thames Forum in October 2008:
It appears that little has changed. Can I assure you that there are at least as many ill mannered and inconsiderate motorboaters on the river as careless rowers.
The Amateur Rowing Association has a water safety code used in the training of all rowers - how many motorboaters have received any tuition before they plough down the middle of the river at excess speed?
Why do we do it? Refer to the results of the last Olympics.
I will not comment further but I would ask my motor boating colleagues here to exercise restraint and not spoil an important thread about river management by allowing it to be hijacked by unpleasantness and intolerance.
