Hello blenkinsop and welcome back ! Let me assure you that my post was not introducing an "anti rowing" strand as you put it. I did not "introduce it" but thank you for confirming the veracity of my comment.
It appears that your very first post on the YBW forums was on this very Thames Forum in October 2008:

Can I assure you that there are at least as many ill mannered and inconsiderate motorboaters on the river as careless rowers.
The Amateur Rowing Association has a water safety code used in the training of all rowers - how many motorboaters have received any tuition before they plough down the middle of the river at excess speed?
Why do we do it? Refer to the results of the last Olympics.

It appears that little has changed.
I will not comment further but I would ask my motor boating colleagues here to exercise restraint and not spoil an important thread about river management by allowing it to be hijacked by unpleasantness and intolerance.

The Thames provided him and the rest of the club with waters on which to train ! The lottery is for good causes - do you not consider the Thames to be a good cause?

Considering the annual subscriptions levied, and happily paid, by their members, the contribution paid by British Rowing to the EA nationwide is derisory.

I consider the Thames to be a very good cause but remember the money that Marlow RC received came from Sport England.

Personally I think 'Blenkinsop' is/was looking to introduce a sour note to this thread. I am a former member of Leander and have in the past provided free facilities for Rowers to train from Ashmount. I like Rowing but I have no illusions about some of the antics Rowers get up to.
I see them EVERY day remember. I see them coming down or up the wrong side of the river, I see Chase Boats joy riding, I see them line abreast pacing each other, I see Scullers swipe moored boats with their oars because they haven't looked around as frequently as they should, I see Rowers rip away Anglers tackle, I could go on and on.
Having said that, thankfully considerate Rowers are in the majority it would however be nice to see a few more give a nod of acknowledgement when other boaters cheerfully make allowances for their sport which is very demanding on other river users.

Went a meeting recently at which all groups using the Medway attended,from Peel Ports down to our local canoe and kayak club.
It is really useful to hear the other side of the story.
Suspect the canoe crew were unaware that the leisure boaters are more worried about running down an impossible to see bit of fibreglass than the canoe boys were of mobo wash.
