Hi All,

The yard storage runs out on my hustler at the end of April.

She has to go, almost irrespective of price...

Last calls for any offers before she goes onto ebay...

Jamie

Thanks,

She is a cracking little boat but eveything in life has a time...and that time is passed for now...when the baby can swim. . . . well, then we'll see. . . .

Jamie

PS. Bilbo, I hope the sea feather is behaving as should.

Don't do it, get the baby out and have the best holidays of your life on it, my kids have spent many of their holidays from being baby's to now age 8 and they love the boat as much as me, they would be heartbroken if I sold up on them.
Keep it and enjoy watching your family grow on it.

She looks superb.
Are you really sure you must sell???.
I kept mine on a shoestring through child rearing years and thank god I did because it was 25 years before I could have bought another one and I would have missed such a lot.
Tell SWMBO your relationship will be so much better if you have the boat as a haven - everyone knows those chaps with a boat to look after dont need a mistress to assert thier prowess - they have enough on with the family and vessel

And as your sales blurb says she is well set up with 2 sea 'births'.

Have to agree with other comments. When the children came along we hung on to our boat, 3-4 years of limited boating, most spent on the hard, but managed to spend time doing all the little jobs. We used her as a caravan. Then before we knew it we found ourselves at Studland Bay building sand castles. Now they do the night watches :-)

My two boys are now 3 and 6, it's not been easy but they now love being on the boat and we have some great adventures without going very far. If you can afford to do it I would try and keep the boat, expecially as she seems pretty well sorted with no majot works needed.

Been where you are. had a baby girl with screaming colic, 6 months of hell. but came to same conclusion as others say on here - keep it. Now my 2 year old daughter loves the boat. its more playing pirates in her front cabin than grinding a halyard but what the heck its quality time with the family and a welcome break from the stresses in life. Also it became apparent that to sell my boat in this market, I'd literally have to give it away so I figured- whats the point. your hustler looks like a really good family boat- why give it away to some clown on ebay? unless the cash would make a real world difference to the quality of life for your family, you should keep it. Id like to say im pretty practical and handy with engines electrics etc and I owe it all to messing around aboard my grandfathers and dads boats as a kid. The fresh air and engine oil will be better for your nipper than playing on the wii thats for sure!!

c'mon, life's too short. You know the only reason to sell a boat is to buy a bigger, better or newer one! :D

Keeping the boat may be beneficial:

Many years ago, chatting in a cockpit at a classic boat rally, a broker explained how he had to be very careful when a prospective buyers lady answered the phone. But on one occasion the lady said "its all right, I know exactly what he is doing. I don't think out marriage would have survived without his boats".

A friend used to keep his boat next to the house during the winters, nice and convenient for the odd jobs and as an escape - and at times he went to 'work' on the boat and pulled the ladder up after himself.

They are really nice looking yachts and you've obviously cared for yours really well. Hope you find a decision that feels right; I had to swap my dream for a yacht that sailed as well as yours to windward for a boat that the family was comfortable on and with. It works for us to have that compromise of a boat that isn't close winded but sails very well on other points and doesn't really heel, has an all weather set up and big side decks for babies and small children to move about on safely. It matters a lot to SWMBO that the boat feels safe and as a result we spend every holiday aboard. Give me a tiller and a taught genoa battling upwind any day, but I'd rather have the family with me! Hope it all works out for you.

Keep the boat, you will never get a fair price for her...

As others have said if things are tight store her for year or so. My ex-wife sailed as a passenger not as crew we manged 18 nights on-board in my daughters first year. It was easier to live on the boat than at home the boat was only 24' so everything was in arms reach...

When they are baby's they are not a problem....
