I have some o/b god knows where they came from, do you know anybody with a lathe

In some 40 years of boating, I don't think I've ever possessed a wooden bung of any size.

Bungs don't have to be perfectly round. Some of the holes (eg hull perforation) aren't round, so any plug that mostly fills the hole.
I've made some with just a plane and a lump of wood. They'd be perfectly round on a lathe, but these'll do.
In saying that, our boat has carried bungs for its 40 year life and not seen one used either...

Most of the Bung/Plug Packs stop at around a 2" Diameter, have you thought about Stay Afloat?

I am surprised some people don't carry bungs. They are one of the cheapest safety items on a boat, and I have had to use one when the ball valve on the inlet for the fridge cooling water broke in half as I tried to close it.

A roll of Denso tape would be a good idea for wrapping or bunging holes. It's used in the gas industry to temporary stop leaks from damaged pipes.

Its a tape with some jell on it.
