A large motor boat caught fire and sunk in the Solent a week or two back, just purchased by a friend of Roger Rat. Maybe it was old news?

Yep - that was off calshot from memory - this post stated Hamble.
Different beast but suspect you have it in one....

Yes the 'Meridian' that caught fire and sunk was right by Calshot Spit. I just thought OP was talking about a different boat. The original post was, "Boat fire Solent"
The boat's been lifted and is in dry store under a roof being examined (whats left of it) by many inspector / engineers. I've not heard any official outcome or news.
I hear that Paul is getting better though, he said the peeling and scabs etc. looked pretty frightening to the point where he didn't want to go out.

Thats good if the boat is being properly examined in way you suggest as hopefully we will hear of the cause eventually.
Quite different to the F/B Sealine that similarly caught fire and sunk in Stokes bay in 2008 I think - last time I looked the hulk from that was still on the barge that moved it from the fire/sunk site back to Gosport
