Laptop or chartplotter?

what software do you use that enables you to link your laptop to a tablet via wifi?

Conectify makes my laptop a virtual wifi hub, which allow the tablet to connect to the laptop whilst still having internet access.

Real VNC makes the tablet a repeater of the laptop and allows the tablet to control the laptop, should you wish.

I don't do anything clever - I just bluetooth files between machines.

For file transfer i just plug the tablet USB charging cable into the laptop. Connecting them in other ways allows different operations. For instance, the repeater. I can set my laptop up with OpenCP with AIS and set the tablet as a repeater and it all looks identical.

No support means no more bugs left to fix!!!

That's nonsense, I'm afraid. The bugs are still there, they're just not getting fixed. Maybe ok on a navigation laptop that's always standalone or on an isolated network, but if any of your customers ever connect it to the Internet (even just by deciding to make use of a marina's free wifi) then with an unpatched Windows (any OS really, but especially Windows) they're at risk of getting pwned.
