laptop chart plotter - which gps input and best way of 12v power?

update-ordered the gps yesterday - it arrived this morning and works beautifully - now for a 12v supply and to the boat -thanks for the guidance (ps bought from site as link posted above - first time I have used them and super service - thanks for link)

I run a Seapro program through an IBM laptop with an extra large size batterie that I start the journey fully charged. When it gets to 25% I switch to inverter powered from the domestic bank, now this has been charging since leaving the mooring. Once the laptop is back to 100% I swap back to laptop batterie.

The GPS side is from a stand alone USB plugged GPS, it has a magnet that holds the reciever on a steel washer thats screwed to a wheelhouse timber upright.

The system has worked great for two seasons now around the SE coast of England, across the channel and in the Dutch waterway system.
