Landings at Portsmouth

I have to collect crew at Portsmouth on Sunday, is there a place to park the boat near the IoW ferry terminal without being shot at by Wightlink skippers?

Probably be a lot safer to moor in Hasler's marina on the Gosport side and get the crew to come across on the Gosport ferry. You could try the Camper Dock next to Wightlink providing the crew were there before you and ready to leap aboard.

The short answer is no. The following are my suggested alternatives:-

1. Use the Camber which is on the East side of Portsmouth Harbour, close to the hrbour entrance and near the Gunwharf Dev. and Wightlink car ferry terminal.

2. Use Haslar Marina and get your crew to cross using the Gosport Ferry.

Option 1 is your best bet, I've collected people from the Camber quite a few times, though my boat is only a 20ft Bayliner Sports boat and doesn't need much space.

Hi Sue Why not use the new Gunwharf quay moorings which are available to all craft. Plenty of space and easy access for both you and the crew to board. Pontoons are to the north of the IOW ferry terminal and directly below the main Gunwharf development. Point of caution, the Catamarans have little respect for harbour speeds and create significant wash on occasion upsetting the pontoons, otherwise no problem Good luck. Steve

We moored at the new Gun Wharf marina for lunch yesterday, Sue, and like Steve says, the wash from passing traffic is bad but it is very convenient for accessing Portsmouth. Best to find a spot inside the outer pontoon to reduce the wash effect.
