Any recommendations please for brass lacquer for below deck fittings?

From my local ironmonger I bought a small jar of lacquer that was sold for brasswork - can't remember the name as it is in my workshop. I looked for a spray lacquer but they didn't have one - probably a spray would give a smoother finish. I'm hoping it lasts for years as much elbow grease was expended on Brasso first!

I have previously used a product called Frisk Lac which is an aerosol sold through Art shops. It is available both as a gloss and matt finish and is designed to protect artwork. I found it lasted well when sprayed onto cleaned and polished brass. Don't know if it is still available.

Most autoshops have car lacquer in spray cans, and its pretty hard wearing... its usually acrylic...

Alloy wheel lacquer works for me. Halfrauds or any similar kind of shop.
