Arrived off Europa Point yesterday evening at about 1830 - probably should have taken a wider route as we ended up bashing through a quarter mile of crazy water. As it was dark by the time we got into the bay we thought we'd try to anchor in La Linea (could be bothered to get the fenders out as much as anything) but with five minutes the cops were on us! No room at Marina Bay for us so into La Linea marina, a very good night's sleep and the always eye-opening experience of waking up under the Rock.
So, yes - La Linea anchorage is indeed closed. G
The incursions are several times on most days. Largely ignored by everyone else. As is the number of VHF alerts regarding 'pneumatic boat adrift in Straits with x number of persons aboard'. Has become background noise.....![]()
Were you moved from behind the breakwater or north of it off the beach?
Got a distorted message on Navtex the other day saying something about a pneumartic boat adrift. Made me ! ! !
Whats that all about then ?
From behind the breakwater. There was a yacht a couple of hundred meters north-east of the breakwater end - off La Linea beach. I'm pretty sure they got booted on too. There was, and still is, a large sailing boat anchored further north around the bay but we didn't fancy being out there.
