Kwacka, any of the mobo lot being referred to here?

There is also the Marina vs Moorings issue in some places, where those paying umpty-diddly £K for marina berths consider those who prefer swinging moorings to be utterly beneath them.

I always think that the need to feel superior is actually a sign of inferiority. To then sneer at others simply compounds the idiocy.

I wonder if the Columbia boats were the same built under licence in Melbourne by Internnational Marine. They had the Bertram moulds (under licence also) and did the yachts as well. The two they built were a 27' and a 34'. Did your 26' have no side deck, so you would have to climb over the cabin top to access the fore-deck?

If they are one of the same, quite a good boat.

Here is a picture of the Columbia 26. They were also available in 34 or36 and I think a 40'. A very forgiving boat.

Thanks for the pic. Bernie,

I can certainly see your 26' is a scaled down version of the 34' built here, with a very noticably similar sheer line and cabin arrangement. The 27' built here (was) had a different deck and cabin and a bit more 'slab' sided, possibly to make more internal volume/head-room.

I have never fully understood the rift between raggies and moboers. I thought boating was boating and that you used the craft that best fit the boating conditions. A raggie friend of mine went into a tantrum when I purchased a mobo. She called it a stink pot and a smudge pot.

Maybe she had seen MF and was traumatized, I don't know, just a theory.

My response was "Francis, I don't know why you sailboaters are so down on power boaters. We don't think that way about raggies, in fact we consider you powerboater as you are under power and not sail 95% of the time." I can't remember her reply other that it was very loud and I was in a hurry to clear the area.

Well if you think this Quote :- She called it a stink pot and a smudge pot.

You want to see what the Merchant Ships of the 50/60s pushed out when they blow tubes. (cleaning out the boiler tubes of soot and ash).
We only did it when is was dark so even the passengers on board did not see all the soot smoke and sh** that came out of the boilers.

Mine was a Mk II with the roundy top. The older Mk I's were slab sided. A very room boat for its size.
