Well I have had nothing but success when submitting questions to forumite,s in this my first year back on the water since the 60,s. This weekend, thanks to you, I have secured transport for my sunquest 29 to a dry berth at my place of work, for a serious winter refit. She was weighed on saturday, and thankfully was well inside a maximum weight for trailer transport, via Nigel at boat loads LTD. My next question relates to the hull, painted dark blue, on GRP. Im sure I have read somewhere there is a specialised method for removing paint back to base. I want to finish with a plain white hull. Obviously I could rub it all down and paint it white, but I had in mind bringing it back to the original white gel coat finish.Anyone have any idea,s?

I'd guess the best thing would be to get the blue paint blasted off then have the hull Awlgripped white. I doubt you could remove the blue paint and end up with glassy perfect white gelcoat

A good theory!
Unless someone particularly wanted a blue hull there is usually a very good reason for painting the hull. Gel coat damage to some degree.
If you still want to change from blue to white, I would budget a respray of the hull, either before or after removal of the blue.

As jobs go ,on a scale of 1 to 10 it would be a 15 /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
