Know about helos?

i worked on aircraft in the navy for ten years, main concern for you is how are you going to remove the oil stains from your sails !

My mooring is next to the repair place at Fleetlands. They put them back togehter there and fly them over us to see if they got it right. Never seen a tiger striped one though.

Seen a few black & white stripey ones.

Perhaps it's one of the ones that definitely don't drop off blokes dressed in black who are not there in places they should not be even if they were there - so they can't be. Can they?

No. Westland Wasps went out of service some time ago. They were used by the Fleet Air Arm. Here's a picture of one.

Re: Black and white job

NATO used to hold an annual "Tiger Meet" where all the units which had a tiger as part of their badge would get together (and drink beer). Participating squadrons would often "dress up" an ac in tiger stripes for that. With the airshow season approaching, somebody could have done that perhaps? Either that or MOD could only afford end-of-line tins of paint which is probably a more likely scenario! Any airshow buffs out there?

Are you sure it wasn't an AS 332 L2 Super Puma?

They are to be used in the north sea as SAR machines. Dark Blue with a couple of diagonal yellow stripes at the front end.

I'll try and see if I can find a piccie of one.
