Whilst you're all off having fun on the wet stuff think of me stuck here on dry land. Having spent last weekend stripping out our old kitchen I'm stuck indoors once again attending plasterers, plumbers and Old Uncle Tom Cobbley and all, in readiness for the installation of our new kitchen next week. Even blown the radar money on an induction hob and circotherm oven (b****r all idea what they're meant to do, just hope they support AIS and interface with me lappy toppy)..

Look on the bright side....you will get more use from the kitchen than you would from a radar!!! nice piece of kit to have but if you dont use it constantly you will find it very hard to get to grips with...enjoy the kitchen and the sailing in good visibility!!

Looks like you can plug a raster scanned Delia (would a vector Delia be better) into the circotherm and download menus with live updates. So from now on dinner will be ready when we get back from the boat!

the induction thingy. When I fitted ours we used to boil water just for the fun of demonstrating how quick it did it. Now thats sad.

My last kitchen fitting job at chez Peppermint took a week and saved me about the cost of a Centaur. Time well spent I'd say.

A good mate of mine did the Indian Ocean leg of the Millenium Challenge. When he left his wife was in the middle of a 16k kitchen refit. When he returned it had cost 32k. There's a lesson there somewhere. He reckons the food tastes the same too.

I've attended to the strip out and arranged the plastering and services etc (to save a few bob), but swmbo has insisted on having the pros in for the refit. She thinks the job may never get finished if I do it! Wouldn't have taken long to whack the barby and camp stove in, and would have been a b****y site cheaper!

It could be worse...

Humperdinck (of this parish) had a kitchen-fitter whose last memorable job had been for Rowan Atkinson. Hearing some banality about Rowan Atkinson every 15 minutes for three days is a real anduranc eevent.
