Kirby

In the 1970s my dad built a 29' double-ended sloop in his garage in Bristol and kept her on a mooring at Uphill. She was called Kirby. The timber used in construction was Honduras mahogany which he sourced from a coffin-makers in Bath. The construction method was strip carvel using resourcenol glue, so she might well have fallen apart by now. He later sold her to a chap called, IIRC, Alan Wakeham, also from Bristol who kept her in Pill. If anyone has any knowladge of her, I would be grateful.

Alan kept her at Pill on the Portishead Cruising club moorings for many years. He sold her back in the early 90s, and I last saw her in a mud berth at the yard at Uphill. But this was many years ago and I wouldn´t know if she is still there. She was a nice boat, but Alan had very little use from her.
