Hi,

My Kipor 1000Ti suitcase generator (Chinese copy of Honda) has very pronounced hunting at idle, both with the smart throttle on and off. The smart throttle works, i.e. when enabled the idle revs drop and when off it runs at high revs. The hunting is much reduced with the choke half set which suggests fuel starvartion.

It powers loads OK, and under load the hunting is less pronounced but still just there.

Have stripped and cleaned the carb (twice) inc blowing airline thru it, although it wasnt particularly coked up. Also disconnected the fuel filter and no change so its not that causing a restriction. That also proved that the fuel pump squirts a decent amount of fuel out (across my patio!). It doesn't have many hours on it so there shouldnt be any major mechanical wear and tear in engine components. Have cleaned spark plug and checked gap.

Any other ideas?

Thansk,

The need for choke suggests either an air leak some where or problems with the slow running jet, both of which would cause lean running which is compensated for by using the choke.

>problems with the slow running jet

I have checked the pilot jet and cleaned it thru as part of overall carb cleaning, cant see any problems. Problems with that would go away thought wouldn't they at higher revs?

Is it worth getting a new spark plug, I cant quite see how that would cause it but seeing as I cant find any air leaks or blockages I am running out of ideas here (unless the controller board is faulty).

you do have a carburettor problem. Look at my site smallplantrepairs where you should find the thread to sort this out. I am a Kipor Tech supporting 8 of the better importers

Hi hope you can help!

I am having the same hunting problems on my Kipor sinemaster KGE3000Ti !you mentioned about going to your web site and finding a thread there, may I ask you for your web address, as I would very much like to read about how I can resolve my problem.
I thank you for your help, and hope you can help me with my problem!
Many thanks
Charles.
