King's Lynn visitor pontoon open, and Wash boating website

Seems odd you have to give a minimum of 24 hrs. notice to request a berth and pay up front. Do they refund if you don't make it through stress of weather? I bet not! Would be more straightforward if they required you make contact just before you set out for Lynn and were more certain of arriving. Probably that would be about 14 hrs. notice in most cases by sea.

We are planning on going at the end of this month for a couple of nights. I rang up to ask about prepayments and the answer was you have to pay before hand and if you dont make it there is no refunds which I found a bit harsh.

Needless to say we wont be paying until the last avaliable opportunity!!

Is there not a case for asking the RYA and/or CA to make representations about the unreasonable nature of these arrangements? I'll see if I can get the CA to take an interest; anyone know any body on the RYA East Regional Committee?

I dont think it will be such a problem at this time of year when there are less boats about but come summer prebooking is going to be a nightmare with the limited number of berths avaliable.

We had a very lovely couple of evenings on the new Kings Lynn moorings last week. Excellent moorings, excellent town and we were given a very warm greeting by the staff who manage the moorings who even came to say good bye to us as we were leaving.

We will most certainly be going again. Here is a link to the post I put on the Thames Forum page with a few pictures of the long weekend

I visited from Blakeney about a month ago. They were fine about taking a provisional booking without payment. I then forgot to pay for about 2 weeks but was treated with kindness when I finally got round to it. You are bang in the middle of the most interesting part of town. Well worth a visit even though it is a long way from anywhere.
