Kindle fire

I'm having trouble getting started with this (new tech, old brain). Can I download my already purchased apps to it. Especially Navionics.

I've come across this. Sounds a bit of a faff but I'm stuck with the kindle so I'll have to try it. Is there a simpler way. Kindle is fine in other ways but this seems a major drawback.
