Thanks to a generous and extremely pleasant gentleman I now have all the charts and pilot books needed for my trip from Loch Ewe to Largs to watch the Fife Regatta in June/July.

We met last week at the Dog & Pheasant in Brook near Haslemere for a "pint and a chat", where he handed over numerous Admiralty charts and a pilot book, which he had used previously for his own West Coast voyage, but now no longer thinks he'll need.
The fact that he was happy to give them away to a complete stranger shows just how lucky the world is to have people like him.
Oh, that there were more like him!

It was the most pleasant couple of hours, spent chatting and yarning about "all things boats", and then we went our separate ways.
I hope most sincerely that our ways pass again.

He knows who he is, others of you might too - and with a bit of detective work others may be able to work it out.

I thank him in deepest gratitude.

As I have just found; the good still outnumber the berks by a comfortable margin, I'm delighted - and touched - to say.

+1 - there can be some heated debate about trivialities, but when things are rough or someone needs help the forum is quite good at showing its caring side.

Glad you're apparently feeling a bit better.

Pete
