I'm wanting to fit a kicker to the mizzen boom on Sheolin. I've got everything needed except the boom fitting. The boom is an oval section gold anodised Sparlight, so pretty old, 2" (50mm) width.

I have used a piece of webbing. In my case, with a loose footed sail, I took it over the top and fixed the ends on the underside forming a sort of figure of 8, but a couple of rivets/screws with decent sized washers or plates would do

The mizzen isn't loose footed, so a strap around the boom is a no-no.

Just rivet it to the sides then. My main point is that webbing will do the job just as well as stainless and is a lot easier to source
