Kiato Patras

This summer going through the canal I stopped off here to go into the mountains .
Has anyone wintered there in Kiato's large inner harbour ,there is a large town there with all services

Spent one night there last year after Corinth transit. First time there for several years. Swell entered harbour at 3 am. Horrible. Left in the dark at 4 am as it was so uncomfortable. 2 other boats followed me. Plus Kiato is now so run down it would be the last place in Greece I would winter. Shops closed everywhere. People wander round the harbour day and night including some unsavoury looking characters. Its a dump.

Patras is a better option if you can get a berth in the marina further in than the visitor berths. The town is quite lively as it is a University town, with plenty of large supermarkets for supplies. You are however unlikely to find many other people overwintering on their boats. I personally try to avoid Kiato even in the summer, and would only go there as a last resort.
