KeepTurningLeft

watched all 14 the other night, the narrative certainly helps to give it an easy viewing.

well done dylan, looking forward to the completion of the journey and many an hour of viewing...

Another excellent pair - thanks for posting, saves me checking youtube looking for updates!

By the way: "Vessel to anchor opposite" - this sign is under renovation, so you can't see the first word. It should read "No vessel to anchor opposite". Nearly the same, but not quite!

I would like to know how you are:

1) taking the video on a daily basis
2) getting ashore
3) editing it down
4) over-dubbing the sound
5) lip sync-ing the sound
6) doing the local research at the various locations
7) uploading it to YouTube

ALL ON A REGULAR BASIS!!

Bloody well done, wish I had your skills /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Lensman....... Thanks for your interest - in answer to your questions

would like to know how you are:

1) taking the video on a daily basis

£150 Canon MD205 - bought because its the cheapest camera I could find with a microphone socket - if it gets wet - so what - I do have a proper sony Hi defintiion camera - but I need that for work - and this project is pleasure - not a job at this stage

2) getting ashore

Normally I land - I do now have an ebay inflatable - cost £30 - but not had to use it yet - the boat only draws 18 inches or so - going aground or mooring to a drying jetty.

3) editing it down -

load it all onto the computer - and throw away 95 per cent of the shots - editing with Adobe Premiere - but any of the free packages would do all this - using a dell £400 laptop - has a firewire connection

4) over-dubbing the sound

both camera and laptop have mike inputs - I talk to the mike - its how I earn half my income anyway

5) lip sync-ing the sound

time

6) doing the local research at the various locations

bit from direct connections to YBW people, internet, asking people - I am a journo - so I have spent years sifting and simplifying words and pix

7) uploading it to YouTube

T-mobile dongle - £15 a month 3 mb - better and quicker than at home

I am doing the trip between bits of work for the BBC and others - did have a regular radio 4 prog - 20 weeks a year - called shared earth - but BBC have pulled the plugs - filling a 20 week hole my income will require some digging - but I have been a freelance for 25 years - so I designed the circumnavigation plan to be one that I can put on ice at any time - put the boat ashore - cover it with a big green tarp and start digging for more work.

If the trip takes three years - then so be it.

But I am having a great time - I feel energised by the whole experience - would like a gear box that worked though

Dylan

Another pair of grand episodes, I was just posting a link to your site to try and drum up some more interest. I noticed that in "keep turning left in order "your play list has episode 2 absent...

Keep the faith, I am sure that more will come to love this series as we do

Cheers

Most enjoyable Dylan,

Keep up the good work.

Nice to see you featuring less 'fashionable' locations

Have re watched these over again Dylan, they really are great. Suggest at the end of the trip edit and create a programme that the BBC will surely want?

I do have a question - what settings to you save the video in Adobe Premier to be able to get such good You Tube quality.
