Keep getting hit by yachts, are we magnetic?

Having some GRP work done in Portishead at the moment (thanks for the tip Paul, Gelcoat Jo is amazing). All going well until yesterday a yacht tried to turn behind our berth, got caught by a squall, and ended up bashing our stern and getting stuck fast between us and the next boat along. Nasty little gouge in our gelcoat and fibres showing.

The yacht got free when the squall ended. The owner did the right thing, as soon as he could. And today, 24 hours after the incident, Jo had finished mending the damage. You cannot see the join. Marvellous.

This is the second time a yacht has bashed into us this summer. The first time was in Waterford (no damage to us, it just got stuck fast in our bow anchor, and we got two bottles of mediocre wine as compensation).

It has been suggested that we are attracting yachts by some weird previously unknown form of magnetism. Is this a common problem?

I'm sorry I don't see how this is possible, sailing boat owners are paragons of seamanship and consideration for others, are you sure that you were not charging around kicking up excessive wash in your gin place whilst drunk and playing noisy music? Or perhaps I should stop reading posts on Scuttlebutt.

Funny you should say that. A similar thought crossed my mind, and for a brief moment I thought on both occasions, 'This is not possible. Such things do not happen.' But it is and it did.

I think your theory might still be vaild.

That's not a sailing boat: she's a motor sailer.

I have a similar issue, except for me i think my boat must be invisible, wherever we anchor ,somone else comes along later and anchors really close and swings into us.

Theyre usually german.

If you don't mind a small o/t curiosity, does this pic show the stanchion of your Nordie, in the bottom right corner?
I would have sweared that they used a somewhat more refined solution for it, but the only other Nhavns I've seen were older models - and I might be mistaken anyway...
Yes that's the stanchion. Ours was built in 2005.
