Police are hunting a mystery tree feller who has cut down dozens of trees along a particularly picturesque stretch of the River Thames in Surrey, to the consternation of local residents.

Seems the cordless ones are outperforming the similar sized petrols due to their vastly superior torque..

Local social media suggests the phantom logger drives a red car and usually strikes around 2am.

They should have twigged who it is by now.

They drive Blue pick ups down here with EA on the side.,

Over hanging trees are felled on the non tidal bit but are the property of who ever owns the riverbank.
The logs are placed on the river bank by EA.
Winter floods wash the logs in to the river and eventually a few make it over the weir at a Allington.
The really determined ones come down and jam between my boat and the pontoon.
The original owners are most welcome to come and collect them.
Chap with the boat behind me was doing some essential urgent maintanace late one night and said it sounded like he was being torpedoed with the amount of stuff hitting his boat.

I went past these all today on my delivery trip down river.

When i read the article yesterday I thought it was Daily Mail drama however I was somewhat shocked at the devastation along that reach.
Perhaps a peed off liveaboard that’s been asked to move ?

Don’t think anyone has been asked to move yet. EA said charging for mooring starts from next Monday but in the photos I’ve seen of the river, there don’t appear to be any DE notices on the DC bank side yet

I don’t know the history or story however the cut certainly had fewer boats than last year.

well it certainly seemed that way today. That said i normally go the scenic route round the back but was in a hurry today!
