Does anyone know where I can get hold of a suitable box spanner to tighten up keelbolts on a J-92? Stangely for a modern boat they are down the botton of a dark and dingy sump as the keel is actually bolted on about two feet down the fin itself.
I don't think a big socket will do the trick as the studs for the keelbolts protrude too far.

[/ QUOTE ] I know what you mean but it is possible to get deep sockets. That is one avenue to investigate.

As Vic Says you can get 'long' sockets easy enough... I have a few of these that I used for removing diesel injectors.

A couple of extension bars so you can stand up and get a good swing on it...

When I had a similar problem I could not find a deep socket. I got an ordinary one and turned out the centre so it would go over the long bolt, then welded it to the end of a pipe, then weld any old socket in the top end to accept the ratchet/t-bar.

Good idea that. I would drill a hole in the other end for a piece of rod to go through as a handle. It would take abuse better than a ratchet.
