used to attach the cabin table, so steel straps round it. Also the inclinometer. Otherwise plain gold unadorned anodised ali.

As it's a source of potential condensation, I would not like to box it in, but I have seen them wrapped with ceiling lining.
 
Mine was bare. On the aft face I fixed a barometer and the control box for the Mer-Veille radar detector and the control box for the Sea-Me radar transponder. On the front of the mast I fixed the Mer-Veille sensor and the the Sea-Me.
 
Bare.
Can't see the point of pretending it's not there.
Wouldn't want any water that got through the partners to be hidden.

Not sure heat loss or condensation is a big deal to most of us, might matter at high lattitudes!
