Keel stepped mast

I was wondering what folk do with their keel stepped mast down below.
Is it lined with something.
Boxed in,
Built a shelving unit around it.
Or left naked

used to attach the cabin table, so steel straps round it. Also the inclinometer. Otherwise plain gold unadorned anodised ali.

As it's a source of potential condensation, I would not like to box it in, but I have seen them wrapped with ceiling lining.

Ours came with a padded / waterproof upholstery cover, with Velcro up the back edge to remove if necessary

Assumed this was standard practice, but somebody recently commented on it being a good idea

Mine was bare. On the aft face I fixed a barometer and the control box for the Mer-Veille radar detector and the control box for the Sea-Me radar transponder. On the front of the mast I fixed the Mer-Veille sensor and the the Sea-Me.

Can't see the point of pretending it's not there.
Wouldn't want any water that got through the partners to be hidden.

Not sure heat loss or condensation is a big deal to most of us, might matter at high lattitudes!

Current and last boat had an Alcantara esq wrap round it which had Velcro running along the length so it could be removed if needed.

Mine had stuck on vinyl wrap, that was until I lifted the mast! As I have the luxury of a shed for the winter and have to remove the mast, it stays plain anodised Al.
