Nothing wrong if it is drained out, but my original point was that it ends up in the bilges.

If sealed correctly, which our was after remedial action, it should be as the Selden picture on their site ( which I do not seem to be able to attach ! look at selden.com product manuals, mast sealing ) The halliards all enter and leave the mast above the sealing plug and the cables are in a separate conduit in the mast, these conduits do need to be sealed where the cables come out of the mast at masthead etc.
Cables exiting the mast below deck are no longer vulnerable to ropes and feet damaging the deck glands and plugs.
