Keel-less Centaur £1750

I read that about not lining the washers up all neat and tidy too, but can't remember where.

I can't see why you would want to line them up unless you are one of those types who cares about how things look in a locker at the bottom of the bilge, and if some Engineer says it's a bad idea it's no skin off my nose to take note.

that would be a shame roger

of course - I would like to know more about this phenomenon of aligned washers and keel cracks

it is new to me

D

To me it just sounds like technobabble. The problem would more likely arise if the keel bolts were in line with each other. No serious builder would be that daft. Have a look at the third photo and you will see how the bolts are arranged around the periphery of the keels. No amount of wrenching would create a failure along the washers.

it seems unlikely to me

however I would love to see a credible reference

as you say - the bolts are not in a straight line
