KAD44 conversion to mechanical

Indeed I don't.
But my understanding of what PF meant is that his and mine are of the same vintage, which is correct.
During a shortish transition period around the mid noughties, MANs were available either as old school mechanical, or EDC, or CR.

@Portofino , MapisM doesn't have EDC engines.
V 8s .15 L units .Bomb proof motors . Circa early noughties.
The Itama 46 has them or the MTU 770 Hp equivalent.Confusingly my 42 was designated 48 in 2005 has the inline 6 s either 700 or 730 gold tops .There’s a 20 cm beam difference and 1 degree deadrise from the standard Amarti 22 to my 23 .
Mines the evolution of the original 90;s 46 s - went narrower and deeper with lighter motors .
There will be a reason .
So as well as MAN rapidly evolving in the early noughties grappling with 4 valve heads , bosches latest injectors , from 2005 CR , Itama changes owners twice .The Bulgari group in 2004 followed not long after 2005 the Ferretti brothers who switch build from Roma to Naples at the Apreamare yard for a short while until the ferretti brothers were “ made an offer they couldn’t refuse “ and let go of Apreamare back to the original family .Production then move north to Forli alongside Pershing .Where it’s been ever since .

As said all the electrotwackery is Boning ( farmed out ) and none potted all replaceable, plug n play pcb boards .
No ones ever considered retro fitting the previous modals systems with MAN s or MTU , Cummins etc like this thread infers for your KAD 44s .To get round the potting ECUs mounted on the engines , the premature failures reported ( for what ever reasons) and the well documented availability anxiety.

Huge advantageous MMDS means I can access a load of data in real time .Usefull eg load , EGT , fuel burn , s inlet water pump pressure, and 16 delta’s in all .
An arguably disadvantage is they are littered with sensors to gather all that data .Denso I think plenty available.
As said in 6 seasons I just lost a sensor Infact the load sensor ( measured injector opening time ) on cylinder 1 once .
Faulty connector I bust climbing across ,Could have been bodged but ( seeing I have spent zilch on them other than normal service consumables ) I opted for a new whole unit .You can just see the new black wire in one of the pics .
Its wasn’t a show stopper just a sensor error reported , the injector still worked , motor still worked etc .

Shaft seals are drip free and the prop cut less bearings just passed a survey , no vibrations and I did the valve lash adjustment myself ( with the help of a mate ) = dead easy .

As I said I like the simplicity of Morse controls .Ok no syncing but it’s hardly a chore Infact quite satisfying getting them with 2 -5 rpm by hand cruising.

Time moves on I wouldn’t hesitate running a newer MAN boat with Boning set up control / helm and nowadays obligatory glass cockpit. I won’t be returning to anything VP esp one that dangles the drives in the brine .
