As it says KAD43 all mechanical.
Throttle levers push forward quite nicely but stiff to pull into reverse (port a bit worse than s’board) and stiff to bring back to neutral from reverse. (not from forward)
It was stiff last year and got better with usage but this year particularly stiff.
I have never investigated the system but am I right in assuming that it can’t be the cable because lever forward is OK. So it must be leg mechanism?????

did you servicce the legs last winter, cable adjustment on leg bell crank? I have also had some experience of that when the gear shift seal on the leg got pinched on reassembly but it was stiffish both ways but particularly in reverse.

Thanks for your reply Bruce
The legs were serviced (new bellows only) a month ago. I don’t think it’s a problem caused during the service because the problem is similar to last year, just a bit worse.

Well FWD pushes cables out while REV pulls them in. It is also possible that the cables are worn / have crud etc on their exposed length inhibiting retraction. Only way to tell for sure is to pull the cover plate off in shallow water, titty high, and run through quick checks. Or lift .... $$$$

That makes sense especially because it does get better the more I use it. Shame the boatyard doesn’t look at this as a matter of course when doing bellows jobs.
Tourist season now so all the bouys are up for swimmers so no access to shallows. I’m back in September so will give that a go. Failing that it’s a job I need to specifically mention when it’s next having its bottom scrubbed.
Cheers

I have same problem on my Kad 44, I’m sure it’s the cable as I disconnected it at the control end and the lever felt nice with no clunking noise, a job for the next service
