I have a belt (I think) squeeeel at about 2200 RPM. It's that point where the compressor cuts out. It's not just the blip when the clutch disengages but a squeel that seems to continue until I throttle up.
I have replaced the belt and it is properly torqued up.
The compressor clutch plate gap is within specification.
Engine has done 300 hrs, compressor oil is at correct level.
Maybe I could understand a slip at compressor cut in but not cutout???
My other engine is behaving perfectly.
Help!!

ps I will give more accurate RPM data tomorrow (Friday)

I had a lot of trouble with belt slip on buth of my kad43s. Even with near new belts tensioned correctly. Belt dressing works well, and would be a good way to diagnose wheather you have got belt slip or not, but its a bit messy, and needs to be reapplied.
I finally cured the problem by fitting a set of Gates belts, rather than Volvo, as advised by Col from this forum. These belts have been running for the last 50hrs without a single squeek!! All thanks to Col.
I dont have the Gates part Nos here - they are in my notebook at the boat - Ill post later if you like

Good Luck

The kompressor(swedish :)) shouldn't be cutting out at 2200rpm: it should keep hanging in there until 2500 - 2600rpm.

Having said that, check your tensioners. A squeaky one will also get warmer than the others, so check them by hand after a run.

Also check the tension/condition of the shorter flat aux drive belt.

I appreciate you have checked the belt and its tension and everything else mentioned in your post. But you have only mentioned the compressor belt, what you must remember is that everything is driven by the circulation belt, if that one is the slightest bit off its correct tension you can have all sorts of problems but mainly lots of dust, so please check that one for correct tension.

I assume no one has played about with the potentionmeter on the speed relay?

Totally agree about using Gates belts, wouldn't use any other.

if the RPM plays a bit and go -200 rpm clean the filters/seperators myn does this when I have some fuel clogging them
had this problem last year with starboard engine, and two weeks ago with port and is always this the reason
if you are going out and dont feel the mess give them a couple of down to full RPM on idle so the dirt moves on, cut down when touching top RPMs
my compressor also cuts off at 2200/2300 rpm and all KAD43s I know (not much) cut at this level

Top marks!! Exactly right. I tightened it up today (25-30 ft-lbs as per book) and the squeeeeel has gone and the RPM reading is steady through the compressor in and out which incidently is as per book cut in 1700 RPM, cutout 2600 RPM.
I feel a tat embarrased because I've had the problem off and on for some time now.
Thanks to all for your ideas and inspiration.

Peanuts, I found out that most belts wether they be volvopenta, quinton hazel, ford, gm etc are all made by gates for the oe manufacturers, its the same story with filters.

Some years back i went to the crossland/fram factory near nottingham, I was invited in the see the plant in operation, there were blank filters, being printed in big batches with each oe manufacturers style on them, what an eye opener, its the same in spain where most of the volvopenta filters are made and printed, the french too make them for citroen and peugeot all under one roof.
