Has anyone replaced injector sleeves on a KAD32 or similar? We’re partway through the job, having removed the injectors and one sleeve that came out with an injector. I’ve bought new sleeves, part number 3581536 from Orbitrade, which is equivalent to the now-obsolete OEM part 3582429. The nozzle end on the new sleeves is slightly longer, which had me concerned, but I’ve been assured this is fine as it replaces the old part. I have the tool to seat the new sleeves and know the cylinder shouldn’t be at the top when installing them, but is there anything else I should keep in mind besides making sure everything is squeaky clean?
The reason for doing this is to hopefully fix a long-standing issue of unburnt diesel (soot) on the water when pushing the throttle forward. We’ve replaced or checked just about everything, and now only the injectors remain. As it turns out, all the injectors are in bad shape and are getting refurbished, so I’m hopeful this will solve the problem. Either way, they needed attention. Any tips would be greatly appreciated, as we only want to do this once and get it right.
