Yep, standard VW pricing (I don’t have contacts at chop shops) They are LED, dip automatically if an oncoming car is coming, they GPS sense which country your are in and auto change to RHD. (and probably do things I haven’t discovered yet)Surely not!?
Yep VAG the Volkswagen Audi Group as they are called expect dealers to do more + more .Activity discourage DIY or Joe under the arches messing with it .Yep, standard VW pricing (I don’t have contacts at chop shops) They are LED, dip automatically if an oncoming car is coming, they GPS sense which country your are in and auto change to RHD. To fit (I’ve seen the YouTube video) most of the car front end comes off, even the wheel arches.
Total madness!
I used to be able to quite adequately see a car coming and dip myself and also buy, for a couple of quid, stickers to put on the lights for foreign travel.
Progress????![]()

Eg to change a bulb on a Bentley GT , to get to the back of the pod to flip the cover off ( each has it own ) pull the duff bulb , swop it and replace …………you have to remove the front bumper , remove a wheel arch liner ( lift the car remove a wheel etc ) and remove the front wing like mentioned above ^^^ .
There are hacks that involve kid size hands and loosing skin in the process .
2004 when the GT first came out heading up VAG s line up .Ok badged as a Bentley.Eventually tech trickes down the range spreads out .
To get at a starter motor on the W12 the engine requires removal as does turbo waste gate N2 sensors .
Most young uns today arn’t interested in car DIY the “ dealer “ and an obsession with book stamps has finished that .
In the 80 s a mate of mine a junior anaesthetic bod blow his head gasket on his new to him first car .A Morris Marina starter car .
Fresh out of uni skint etc .
We or should I say I changed the HG in a busy hospital car park .Halfords was within walking distance and the A series BMC derived 1.3 was a doddle to perform extensive surgery on .Fired up first turn of the key .We just left a green mess of drained coolant on the parking space .

130 initial power outputI'd be surprised if you found a bulb on a modern Conti GT... I think things have moved on a bit.
Just as they have with marine diesels. The KAD 44 is a great engine, but it's an update of a KAD 43 which is an update of a KAD 42 which is an update of an AQAD 41 which is an update of an AQD 40 which dates right back to the early Eighties and produced 150hp, if memory serves.
