kad switching supercharger off, complications ?

At low speed simply stick to 1400rpm or less engine speed so the supercharger is not operating.
In any case the supercharger rev range is not economical on fuel .

KAD 44EDC

i mainly use it for low speeds, not impressed with the din and not in a hurry.

so, can cut a wire, put a switch in to the supercharger relay.

does the EDC compensate for the supercharger not being 'on' at higher speeds ?
fuel usage / soot production affected ?

tnx

44 and 300 doesn't have a relay as per the 32/42/43 it's controlled by the ECU , if you disconnect the plug or break the circuit you get a fault code .

I would not plan on doing it ( ex kad300 DPG owner ) .
Ok you caught out in a chop a d need to back down on the way home all day --fine once in a while .
My supercharge range was 6-22 knots --outside that's it was off .Its was designed for high speed planning boats only .
Turbo,s spinning away from 26-2700 ,cruise a couple100 down from WOT ,I ran mine 850 trouble for hrs 3100-3200 all day sea-state permitted .
Technically @ lower rpm issues arrise over -it's too cool in the chamber to properly burn the fuel leading to build up of soot , gum ,and more corrosive stuff that the riser does not like .
I know folk give them an "Italian tune up" when returning to base ,but really all this links to a post on another thread I put up about sea trail .
You really need to try before buying ,ie a test drive no obligation etc ,no pre contract deposit malarkey .

Think about it a you see a boat end up going down the Brit classical buying route .
Look round it tied up or on the hard .
Hand over 10 % (pay launch relaunch fees if on the hard )
Blat around in it with the whole world invited - engineer , surveyor ,broker ,owner .
There's nowt wrong with it to cock off --ok a Nav light bulb out ! Owners replaced that before you walk off the jetty .
You hand over the balance
It's yours now
Then find out its no good ,or family ask why have bought this ?------for 9 knots or what ever ! Massive supercharger din .

They are not intended for 6-22 knots or what ever it is for your boat .
conclusion
Change boats ---- have a go in few 1st find one that suits your needs majority of the time you intend to use it .
