Info for anyone who has problems with their Kad 42 or most other engines
I recently met a very clever man called Gary Fletcher (Fletch).
He is a truck/car mechanic based in Luton, he agreed to try and help me with a pair of trouble Kad 42's.
I had a plastic bag wrapped around the port side leg which caused the number 5 piston to explode. I had had some high temperature readings on the starboard side in the past as well, so when this happened i thought it would be best to get both looked at.
He came down to Southampton, looked at the problems, then ensured me this was an easy fix and proceeded removing one complete engine and the head and all bolt on's to the starboard engine.
He then carried out a full rebuild to the port side and on the starboard side stripped down and acid dipped via a professional company to all parts that could lead to any sort of overheating.
He left no stone unturned throughout the whole project, even shopped round for the best prices for parts online in the evenings at no extra charge. He also had a purpose made engine stand fabricated to be able to do rebuild without the sump, all green painted sides of parts were shot blast and primed and re-sprayed in volvo green again.
The sea trials carried out last Sunday were unbelievable, after many hours at slow speed to run in the engines we went on to higher speeds in the solent, all was fine with higher speed at lower revs and 15 degrees under the normal running temperatures from before.
So if you want his info please contact me through this forum and i will pass it on.
If you read this, Thanks again Gary
