KAD 32 over cooling

Seem to have picked up a problem with one of my KAD 32's

After a 'flat out' run my temperature gauge on one engine dropped right down to cold when i dropped the revs back to displacement speed on my S28.

Subsequent trips out the temp gauge barely moves on the starboard engine whereas the port warms up as usual to 80 degrees. Putting some load on the engines and the starboard gauge moves to temperature but drops straight back down when power is off.

I've felt the engines after an hour running at 6 kts and the starboard engine is far cooler to touch than the port. The hot water tank is connected to the starboard engine and the water isnt getting particularly hot that quick either.

Before I go and order a set of thermostats - has anyone had anything similar that wasnt thermostat related? Also are they easy to do if it is that?

Finally if I leave it until the spring when its getting a full service will it cause any problems doing a few hours trawling around like this?

Over cooling, surely. (Or under heating)

Anyway, try removing the connector from the temp sender, clean it up and put it back. I had exactly the same problem and it cured it. The engine was always at the right temp, there was a resistance issue in the connector. Mucho cheaper than two new thermostats.

Thanks - changed the title! Trying to work and post should be avoided!

To rule out the gauge I did run both engines for an hour and then felt the tops - the one over cooling was significantly cooler to touch than the other one.

However will definitely try the connector first - thanks! Worth a shot before spending money!
