KAd 300 DP-G Filter help

^^ Regarding out-drive bits, I agree 100%. I just replaced 2 x bellows kits using genuine VP bellows... I believe online stories tell a lot about them.

Re. Mercruiser, what was the non-genuine manufacturer? I ask because I see plenty of 'no name' non-genuine service kits... I wouldn't touch these. I do, however, have no issue with using a quality manufacturer ie. Mahle (which, as mentioned above have been using for years without issue)

Does anyone know who actually makes Volvo filters? I'd be interested to know.

With the Mercruiser example above, this is a marketing ploy (which i'm sure works), but to be fair, we would need to know the manufacturer of each aftermarket part. I suspect Mercruiser would have used the cheapest, nastiest, China made cr4p to use in comparison.

Mercedes Benz cars ,
Only when you cut up the cheap none genuine filters -you see less paper fins and cr4ppy quality .
Agree they could have been bigging up there own stuff --- point is if only you see inside .
Yup loads of China Export stuff about .
As mentioned many times diesel filtration is número uno ---if want to minimise engine / injector hassle --big bills etc .

So if you are gonna go none genuine --as you infer try and see if the cheap one is indeed made in the factory -reboxed .
Each to there own at the end of the day .

Absolutely agree, there is an awful lot of bigging up about filters, even main stream brands. As previous post says, I have seen videos from America of about 30 filters cut in half and compared with OEM. In this case it was Lexus who own Denso, and compared them with the OEM denso filter. There just was an incredible difference and all were way short of the OEM spec. An oil filter is a very important part, why would you wish to cheapen it ? When you consider how much you actually save versus peace of mind of fitting original from a dealer, I consider it money well spent. The other thing is to be extremely wary of buying on eBay. As I have already written on here VP parts are faked, so be careful of your source.

Many thanks for the replies and advice. I totally agree about buying a too cheap a product - the famous words "you get what pay for" comes to mind that said I would buy a product like a Mahle filter if I knew they are of a quality manufacture.
Thanks again
Jon
