What is the legal position regarding leaving bouyed lines?

Can ANYONE just leave a bouyed line in any position he chooses to mark?

If I decide to string a net across, say the Needles Channel, would I get away with it?

Cheers

As an ex comercial fisherman I can tell you that ALL pots and dhan bouys should be clearly marked with the vessles name and and PLN eg 'Fred frog' PZ 2005. This should be able to be seen at high water on springs. If it aint then its not leagle simple.

Contact DEFRA (MAFF as was) and notify them, contact your local sea fisheries committee who issue the potting licences.

You are not allowed to fish in or near a fairway r navigable channel either. You should contact the relevent port authority and request then to remove it, they have the power to this without recrimination.

Pots etc are not marked as many divers (the main culprets in my experience) and other criminals just use the line and dive down/ haul the pots and steal the fish!

Its thier living you, can't realy blame them however problematic it is.
