and it is Gale force 10 gusting 80 knots of wind at the moment. However, they do not appear to have problems with any of the boats yet.

Re: Blow my sox off

Excellent news.

My new boat (Well new to me) is sat in the marina at Brighton. (maxum 2900)

I have just transfered the money to Ancasta this morning.

Been thinking about my boat in Brighton this morning. Hoping the extra lines I put on will be OK. I can't get there today, but will be down tomorrow to check everything. I have to say that the Marina staff do a pretty good job of checking on the boats. I've been on the boat in winter when it was blowing a F9, and the staff where very much in evidence checking everything was OK, and putting on extra lines if needed. I usually leave a couple of lines tucked inside the cockpit for this purpose, and they've used them more than once.

Congratulations.

I've just got back from Brighton Marina, and at 11am when I drove into the car park the sea was as big as I've ever seen there. And the beach just west of the marina is covered in wood! The wind is bad - but it doesn't seem as bad as it was in last years big storm where a load of boats lost their covers.

Will this big weather help drive the rest of that wood ashore?

Cheers
Jimmy

Pah !!! Typical mo-boer's, those ferry guys. Slightly choppy conditions and you all run for cover /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Me .... I'd be out there with a reefed (forum) burgee up .....but the nurses say I can't go out today. /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

I always get a bit panicky as during our last stay in Brighton during a force 10 our boat was in a bit of an exposed position and a great big steel trip boat thingy broke its moorings and nearly squashed our poor little boat. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

It was only thanks to the efforts of the Marina Staff and a Dutch couple on the boat opposite ours that disaster was averted. (They were well rewarded with wine and beer)

We also lost our dinghy cover /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Unfortunately, we cannot get down for the next week so if anyone is in the vicinity of "Sea Dweller" can they have a look for us and make sure she is safe and well.

They break with astonishing force over the harbour walls, and shoot scores of feet in the air - I know that because as a kid when they were building it I used to break in and play there. Amazing we lived really ...

We on an outer pontoon and the waves break over in big sea and Strong winds and normally the spray drops about 12m into the causeway.
