My newspaper has just had its food critic pop along to Bray for a quick nibble.
Starter.
Soup £33.50
Foie Gras and cherries £51.50
Main
Settled on the Menu exceptionnel £112.50 apparently
Wine du Pape £85.00

Just off down the boat club...got a nice bit of Haddock on the Menu at £5.95 tonite and might just stretch to the pudding at £2.95 and all.
You lot must all be trillionaires up there.

Last three nights, eaten in Tollesbury Cruising Club. Meal for four with drinks - £38!

And it was nice food, homemade Steak and Ale pie last night.

I agree!!

Waterside Inn.......... I ate there once, never again. Pretentious is too mild a word for the food. I have eaten better at dockside cafes in France.

I headed down to meet our saltwater friends this weekend (too cold to venture out the lock so took the bikes....)

THE most amazing meal in the Ship Itchenor, three bottles of good white, two starters, two mains, cheese board, more wine and a filthy chocolate thing 86 quid....now thats value, pity we spent 40 quid on cabs to and from Chi marina! Dont usually do reviews but this was deff worth a mention

Ah! The Ship at Itchenor. Now that really takes me back. It was my regular weekend haunt in the late 1960s. Yetti who owned it then insisted we rented a room which allowed her to say we were residents and as such drink and party all night. One room = 30 bob, split 30 or even 40 ways. Some geezer from the Rolling Stones (the one who died) lived in a house behind there would sometimes come in and say "if you don't keep the noise down I will have to buy you all a case of Champagne" .
The food wasn't bad then but very much home cooking.
