What it was like to have a small boat in a nice climate.... I haven't posted here for an awful long time, but thought you might like some video from where I live now.... I moved to South Carolina USA almost 4 years ago from North East England and have been lapping up the sunshine ever since  I really don't want to come across like Rum.... but here's a little video from the weekend... https://www.dropbox.com/s/x40bce4z2wpazkb/Boat trip higher quality.mp4 OK, I know the video was amateur, and we had no lifejackets on (they were in the locker) and the ropes were untidy and the music was ****, but we had a great time on the day :D

Perfect boat for the climate. We were in Charleston this time last year, stayed on Kiawa Island, were surprised at the number of large boats in the marinas as we crossed the bridge to go into Charleston. Funnily enough one of my best mates is heading there later this year on his Nordhavn. Small world!

It really is a small world! I work on Kiawah Island for the people who developed it. We live on Johns Island 25 minutes away and the boat was built in Summerville, just half an hour up I26. Tiger Woods came by superyacht to the PGA last year and parked it just along the road  I have a picture somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out. Did you rent a house or stay at Sanctuary? There's a new hotel gone up there at Freshfields Village in the last year which is a bit more affordable....

More pics would be good. We stayed at Sanctuary, very impressive place!

How far offshore do you need to venture before the water clarity improves?

V nice vid, Steve_I. The colour of the water reminds me of the English Channel. Go on make us all jealous now but how much does marine petrol and diesel cost in S Carolina?

We have an office at Sanctuary that I look after (IT stuff). It's the real estate place, where all the little shops are. We've never been out of the harbour, so I wouldn't know about the water clarity, although it does seem to be the same wherever we go. There are so many places to go via the intracoastal that there's really no need for us to venture out to sea. The colours in the video are not as vivid as I would have liked, but that may be due to reducing the quality so it would stream. It was shot with a GoPro camera, which produces raw files that are 100Mb for 1 minute of footage! First time I've played with it.... I'll post some still pics if I get time today.

Really don't want to make you jealous Mike! Not sure about diesel, but I know it's quite a bit more expensive than petrol. Ethanol free is around $4 a gallon at our marina. Normal petrol for the car is hovering around $3.50 at the moment. Probably a good thing as my car is a 4.0L and the wife's is a 3.7L..... :)
