Just how much should I pay?

is therent any legal limit to the towable weight ? there is a limit on what you can tow by both driving licence and the individual vehicle. On a normal private licence it is 3500kg (including trailer), and there are only a few 4*4 that can manage that. On an HGV licence..well they move bloody great sunseekers on the roads, so ... For private licence, there are a host of almost impossible to comprehend laws on length, and some easier ones on width. (length of trailer, excluding A-frame and hitch, of conveyed object, of overhang.. even the police couldnt quite say more than say we said its ok !!) And then there are special rules for boats. Anyway, if you are not driving it, and he is liable to you for damage ( ie him, not his insurance company), then whether he is legal or not isnt your problem...

I was referred to this haulier by the local yacht broker who's moved many boats for him. So I'll leave it up to them this Friday. Its still scary though!!
